'Gagnant!': City receives fourth-quarter payment from OLG

NEWS RELEASE ONTARIO LOTTERY AND GAMING CORPORATION ************************* Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is pleased to make a fourth quarter (January 1 – March 31) payment totalling $398,927 to the City of Sault Ste. Marie for hosting Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie.

During OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026), Sault Ste. Marie has received $1,814,987. Since the gaming site opened in May 1999, Sault Ste. Marie has received $38,882,493. These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“OLG shares revenues with host municipalities to help them invest in the local programs, services and infrastructure that communities rely on,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “These payments are part of our government’s commitment to strengthen municipalities and local economies, reinvesting revenues from Gateway Casinos Sault Ste.

Marie to help to protect services and priorities that matter most.” Since 1994, host communities have received almost $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue. OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation.

Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province. Over the past nine years, service providers have invested more than $2.9 billion in private sector capital investment across the province.

These investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, two large-scale resort developments and expansions, many gaming floor expansions and new non-gaming amenities. *************************
