Shoppers will be able to accumulate cash into a new digital Sparks wallet, accessible via the M&S app, by reaching set spending thresholds across a range of product categories.

The deals will be refreshed weekly, tailored to each customer's individual shopping habits. M&S has outlined some examples of the benefits on offer such as earning £10 in your Sparks wallet when you spend £50 on fashion, home and beauty, or £6 when you spend £30 on nightwear. Further offers include £5 added to your Sparks wallet when you spend £35 on food, or £1 when you spend £10 on fresh fruit.

Customers will also receive rewards for purchasing selected items together - for instance, £5 back when buying a bra and knickers simultaneously, reports the Mirror. Sparks members will additionally earn money back when shopping in departments they wouldn't ordinarily visit. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here M&S has also confirmed a new partnership with Virgin Red, providing customers with another way to top up their Sparks wallet.

Examples include £130 added to your wallet when booking a Virgin Atlantic Holiday, and £80 back when switching to Virgin Media. To take advantage, customers will need to link their Virgin Red account to their Sparks membership through the M&S app. M&S confirmed it had taken customer feedback on board and would be retaining a number of its existing Sparks benefits.

Customers will continue to receive complimentary birthday treats, coffee stamps offering a free beverage after six purchases, currency exchange rates and reduced premiums on insurance products. Sharry Cramond, marketing director of fashion, home and beauty and loyalty at M&S, said: "We are so excited to finally unveil the new Sparks - it's a complete step change in how we reward our customers.

"We've built this around exactly what they told us they want: simple, personalised offers and real money rewards that drop straight into their very own digital Sparks Wallet to spend at M&S however, whenever and on whatever they choose. "Sparks now puts our customers totally in control, rewarding them for buying the products they already love and giving them the opportunity to try new things and get rewarded for it.

"And while we're transforming Sparks from the ground up, we've kept the much-loved treats customers told us matter to them - from free Birthday Treats and Coffee Stamps to our baby club and our longstanding charity donations - but more personal, more flexible and more rewarding than ever before.
