DBS Launches Chromo Credit Card and TravelLah! Debit Card for Gen Z

New Cards for Young Spenders

DBS Bank unveiled two payment products in September aimed squarely at Gen Z customers in Singapore. The bank says Chromo and TravelLah! reflect spending patterns and priorities common among young adults, from everyday purchases to international travel.

Both offerings are designed to deliver more value on routine transactions — Chromo through adaptive cashback on local spend, TravelLah! through fee-free foreign exchange.

Chromo Adapts to Spending Habits

Launched on 5 September, Chromo is billed as Singapore's first credit card that automatically adjusts to how customers spend. Each month the card awards bonus cashback on a cardholder's top two eligible local spending categories, eliminating the need to choose categories in advance.

Young adults in their 20s are navigating one of the most dynamic stages of their lives, often marked by shifts in income, interests and financial priorities, said Chan Sow Han, head of Singapore Payments and Unsecured Lending at DBS.

They therefore need a card that can mirror their ever-changing lifestyle and enable them to maximise their rewards based on where their spending is trending.

Chan explained that Chromo flips the conventional rewards model: instead of asking cardholders to predict where they will spend, the card tracks actual behaviour and allocates bonus cashback accordingly.

Rewards Beyond Age 30

Customers who hold Chromo past their 30th birthday can continue using it with the same rewards structure for three months. From the fourth month onward, they may choose between 1.7% cashback or 1.3 miles per SGD 1 on eligible local spending, with no minimum spend threshold and no cap on rewards.

TravelLah! Targets Younger Travellers

The second product, TravelLah!, goes live on 13 September. DBS describes it as a travel debit card available from age 16, catering to younger customers who do not yet qualify for credit cards or who prefer a debit option for spending abroad.

TravelLah! charges zero foreign exchange fees on overseas transactions, applying Visa exchange rates without any DBS mark-up. DBS also waives its own fees for overseas ATM withdrawals — no limit on amount or frequency — though fees imposed by the ATM operator itself may still apply.

The card supports payments in more than 150 currencies. Users can check indicative exchange rates in the DBS PayLah! app before making a purchase.

Dedicated Wallet Removes Pre-Conversion

TravelLah! includes a dedicated debit card wallet inside the DBS PayLah! app, held in Singapore dollars. The bank says this design means customers do not need to convert currency before travelling — the card handles conversion at the point of sale instead.
