Virtual IBANs
Know who paid — without a separate account for every customer
Give each of your customers their own virtual IBAN, linked to your Demivolt account. Incoming payments can then be matched to the correct customer without relying on the payment reference.
- Unique identifiers
- Automatic payment matching
- One underlying account

The problem with one shared IBAN
When many customers pay into the same account, finance teams spend time matching receipts. References are missing, mistyped, reused, or written in a format your system does not recognise.
That becomes harder as volumes grow. A virtual IBAN (vIBAN) gives each payer a stable identifier that arrives with the payment, so you are not relying on the message field alone.
How it works
How virtual IBANs work at Demivolt
A virtual IBAN looks like an ordinary IBAN to the sender, but it is linked to your Demivolt account rather than operating as a separate payment account.
Your business remains the account holder and keeps control of the account and all virtual IBANs linked to it.
Set up your account structure
After onboarding, Demivolt agrees an account structure that fits your business and the payments you expect to receive.
Assign virtual IBANs
You assign individual virtual IBANs to your end users or to specific payment purposes. The account remains in your business name, while each virtual IBAN is assigned an end-user or purpose that helps you identify what incoming payments relate to.
Your customer pays the assigned virtual IBAN
The payer sends funds to the virtual IBAN as they would to a standard IBAN. Your business name is used as the account name, while the end-user or purpose assigned to the virtual IBAN is recorded as the description.
Payments are matched automatically
Funds arrive in your Demivolt account, while the virtual IBAN used identifies which end user or purpose the payment belongs to. Because each virtual IBAN is already mapped to a specific end user or purpose, incoming payments can be matched automatically without relying on the payment reference entered by the payer.
Manage everything from one place
Your business keeps control of the account and its associated virtual IBANs. You can manage them through the Demivolt dashboard, provide end users with view-only access where needed, or integrate virtual IBAN information into your own platform or client portal.
Benefits
What this changes in practice
Match payments automatically
Each virtual IBAN is assigned to a specific end user or purpose, allowing incoming payments to be matched automatically. This eliminates the need for manual payment matching and makes it easier to manage growing payment volumes.
Keep funds in one account
You do not open a new payment account for every identifier. Liquidity stays central. The virtual IBAN only separates the information, not the money.
Give finance a clear payment record
Each incoming payment can be linked to its assigned end user or purpose, creating a consistent record for reporting, account management and internal finance processes.
Scale payments without scaling your work
As your customer base and payment volumes grow, virtual IBANs help keep incoming payments organised and automatically matched to the correct end user or purpose. This makes it easier to manage higher payment volumes without increasing the amount of manual reconciliation work.
Who it's for
Built around how the money actually moves
Virtual IBANs are useful when you receive many inbound transfers and need a reliable way to identify them. Typical cases include businesses collecting from their own customers, marketplaces and platforms assigning virtual IBANs to merchants, sellers or end users, and financial services businesses that need to identify and reconcile incoming client payments.
Onboarding
Set up after review, not before
Demivolt uses a risk-based onboarding model. We review your activity, ownership, expected payers and how virtual IBANs would be assigned. The aim is a structure that can be operated with the checks the activity requires.
Account approval and the agreed service setup come first. Virtual IBANs follow that approval.

A dedicated business IBAN identifies your Demivolt payment account, issued in your company name. A virtual IBAN is an extra identifier on that account. Allocating one does not open a separate account for each customer.
