WEX and Mastercard Launch Unified Fleet Payment Network in Asia-Pacific

First Unified Fleet Network for Region

Corporate payments company WEX has partnered with Mastercard to create what the firms call Asia-Pacific's first unified fleet payments network. The collaboration brings multiple fleet-related expenses — fuel, vehicle maintenance, tolling and parking — into a single payment experience.

The initiative aims to modernise fleet payment infrastructure across the region and is expected to handle billions of dollars in annual transactions as it rolls out in key Asia-Pacific markets.

Solving Fragmented Payment Systems

Fleet managers typically rely on different payment systems for fuel versus other operating costs, which reduces visibility and creates additional reconciliation work. The new framework consolidates these expenses and their associated data into a unified structure.

The partnership combines Mastercard's global payments infrastructure with WEX's virtual card issuing platform and fleet management operations.

Three-Pillar Approach

The network is built around three core capabilities:

  • Unified payments and data infrastructure: Replaces separate legacy systems by merging fuel, maintenance, tolling and parking with broader business expenses in a single view
  • Actionable intelligence and control: Provides real-time spend controls, automated insights within workflows, and reporting based on line-item details such as fuel types and litres
  • Support for mixed-energy fleets: Enables businesses to manage fuel, hybrid and electric vehicles through one account with consolidated invoicing

Industry Reaction

Matt Arthur, vice president and general manager of WEX APAC Mobility, said competitive advantage in the fleet sector now lies in simplicity.

In 2026, the competitive advantage for fleets is found in simplicity. WEX is already a global pioneer in travel and corporate virtual payments; by joining forces with Mastercard in this new capacity, we are bringing that same engine of innovation to the APAC mobility sector.

Anouska Ladds, executive vice-president of Mastercard Asia Pacific Commercial and New Payment Flows, described the collaboration as an example of scaling with impact.

By combining our global network with their deep industry expertise, we're helping businesses move faster, operate smarter and prepare for what's next. Together, we're setting a new standard for a future-ready mobility ecosystem.
