New Payment Flexibility Coming in August

Philippine mobile wallet GCash is preparing to let users attach Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards directly to their accounts and use them as funding sources for transactions. The feature is scheduled to launch within August.

Parent company Mynt said the update aims to give customers more payment flexibility, particularly when their wallet balance runs low or hits zero. The change is expected to cut down on the need to load funds into the app before making purchases.

How Card Linking Will Work

Users will be able to add up to three Visa or Mastercard cards to their GCash account. The app will support setting a default card and managing or removing linked cards within the interface.

Security measures include one-time password authentication during the card-linking process. For eligible transactions, additional verification may rely on biometrics or a phone PIN where available.

Company Commitment to Simplicity

Our commitment to innovation means building solutions that make daily payments simpler, safer, and completely effortless, G-Xchange president and CEO Ren-ren Reyes said.

We are thrilled to soon allow GCash users to link their Visa or Mastercard directly for payments. As we prepare to roll out this feature, we remain committed to giving Filipinos the freedom to pay their way with ultimate convenience and total peace of mind.

GCash Service Portfolio

GCash supports a range of services including airtime purchases, bill payments, domestic transfers, and merchant payments. The platform also provides access to savings products, credit, loans, insurance, and investment options.

Planned IPO in 2026

The card-linking announcement follows Mynt's June filing for a listing on the Philippine Stock Exchange. The company describes itself as the country's first and only $5 billion unicorn.

The IPO is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions.
