Mastercard Launches Unified Fiat and Stablecoin Platform with BVNK

Platform Debut Marks First Major Integration

The card network unveiled Global Money Platform in partnership with BVNK, the stablecoin infrastructure company it purchased last August.

The offering fuses Mastercard's payment capabilities with BVNK's stablecoin rails through a unified API, representing the firms' first significant joint product since the deal closed.

Businesses gain modular infrastructure they can tailor to their needs — starting with core functions and layering in additional services as they expand, eliminating the need to juggle multiple vendors.

Multi-Currency Accounts and Conversion Tools

A central component is a multi-currency account that lets banks, fintechs and enterprises hold both fiat currencies and stablecoins in one place.

Users can embed these accounts into white-label products, manage treasury operations, and handle receivables and payouts under their own brand.

The platform supports real-time conversion between different forms of money and allows businesses to configure rewards programmes and other customisable features within the account structure.

Stablecoin-Linked Cards and Global Payouts

Global Money Platform enables customers to spend stablecoin balances at any location within Mastercard's acceptance network, effectively turning digital assets into everyday purchasing power.

Through integration with Mastercard Move, users can convert stablecoin holdings into local-currency bank transfers, reaching more than 17 billion endpoints today.

The network expects Move's coverage to scale to over 40 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories by 2027, significantly expanding cross-border settlement options.

Early Adopters and Industry Positioning

Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech are among the initial wave of companies preparing to integrate the platform into their services.

Raj Dhamodharan, executive vice-president for Mastercard Blockchain and Digital Assets, framed the launch as a step toward multi-money commerce.

We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money. Global Money Platform brings together Mastercard's trusted payment infrastructure and reach with BVNK's stablecoin capabilities, giving businesses a single foundation to move value across traditional and digital ecosystems.

This is an important step in bringing our multi-money strategy to life and enabling the next generation of programmable and agentic commerce.

Roadmap Includes Tokenised Deposits and Agentic Commerce

Future development plans include support for tokenised deposits — digital representations of commercial bank money on blockchain rails — and infrastructure for agentic commerce, which would enable autonomous software agents to execute transactions on behalf of users.

The platform is available now through BVNK, with Mastercard positioning it as foundational infrastructure for businesses navigating the convergence of traditional and digital money systems.
